The liquid crystal molecules inside the electronically controlled smart glass will show an irregular dispersion state, at which time, the electric control glass has a translucent but opaque appearance state; When the dimming glass is energized, the liquid crystal molecules inside are neatly arranged, and light can penetrate freely, at which time the dimming glass instantly shows a transparent state.
Normally, there are two kinds of switchable transparent film: self-adhesive smart film and laminated smart film.
You can stick self-adhesive smart film on the existing glass directly, or use the laminated smart film to laminated with glass. Finally, the switchable transparent glass was made by these two methods.
It is composed of thin interlayer of liquid crystals dispersed in a polymer (PDLC) laminated between two plastic substrates coated on the inner face with a thin layer of conductive material. With the help of a small electrical current, its state can change from opaque to transparent and vice versa. EVA or PVB technology is used to bond thin film with the glass.
When power on it is transparent, when power off it is opaque. Then you have the option to have the glass clear for nice view or have the glass opaque to get private room freely.
The main advantage of PDLC Glass Technology is that it allows its users to switch back and forth between opaque and a transparent view. When the switch is on and an electrical current activates the PDLC panels, the liquid crystal molecules instantly aligns. This position allows light to pass through, and the glass becomes clear. And when the switch is turned off and the current gets disconnected, the molecules immediately disarrange for instantaneous and total privacy.
We use smart glass unit and another piece of glass (low E glass, vacuum glass etc.) to make the insulated glass (double glazed or triple Glazed). This insulated glass has function of smart-switchable and energy saving, is durable and weather-resistant.
